Rose Window, St. Francis Basilica

Construction of the basilica was begun in 1228, and comprises an Upper Church and a Lower Church. The Upper Church was completed in 1253, and designed by Jacopo Tedesco. The rose window was possibly designed by artists from France. The statues of the four evangelists surround the window. The complex has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.
