Statue of Marcus Aurelius, Rome, Italy

This is the only bronze equestrian statue remaining from Roman times. It was moved to the Capitoline Hill in 1538. Michelangelo designed the beautiful Piazza del Campidoglio, where today a replica of the original statue stands, while the original is protected from the elements in an indoor viewing area.
